There's a huge difference between reading the Bible and studying the Bible. When you study it in-depth, in-context, you start noticing when people use scripture out of context! I encourage you to get to this point in your knowledge and understanding of scripture. Please don't defer to someone else's judgment on important issues that you need to know about yourself.
If you study the history of God's people, you will find they made the same mistakes over and over. One of them was incorporating religious practices of the cultures around them into their own. This is happening today as well. How will you know unless you have studied for yourself? Please don't follow the opinions of others or defer to someone else's judgment. Spend the time to study and get to know the Word well.
